ChatGPT’s Mindful Surprise!
Yesterday, I tried to get some help from ChatGPT, but it wasn’t working. The page wouldn’t load or react at all. I was using Safari, so I decided to switch to Chrome to see if I’d have better luck. And then ChatGPT greeted me with this message:
“ChatGPT is at capacity right now
As you read this message, please take a moment to pause and breathe. Notice the sensations in your body and the rythm of your breath….”
Wow. Thank you, Chatty! I couldn’t believe my eyes. Mindfulness often gets a bad rap in movies and media, which, to be honest, frustrates me. But there it was—this famous AI suggesting I take some calming breaths and tune into my body. I couldn’t have asked for a better response!
I was finally glad to see that something like ChatGPT was promoting, in a way, the benefits of taking a breath in those difficult moments. I hope people unaware of the power of mindfulness asked themselves the same question: Why would ChatGPT encourage me to take a breath? Maybe it sparked curiosity or planted a seed for someone to explore mindfulness further.
It also made me wonder: why would ChatGPT “promote” mindfulness? Was it a coincidence, or did it recognize, from my AI-memories, that this is something I appreciate? Or perhaps this is simply the standard response for everyone when it’s at capacity. I’m curious—has anyone else received this same message? If you have, let me know!
Thankfully, I didn’t need ChatGPT urgently at that moment, so I wasn’t stressed by its unavailability. Instead, this unexpected mindfulness prompt made me smile 🙂 Well done, ChatGPT!
PS: I checked online, and it turns out other people received the same message. No one seems to know what caused the issue, but it definitely raised a thought-provoking challenge: Can you live without ChatGPT? What did you do if you really needed it at that moment? Was taking a breath helpful?
As I read in another blog post: Keep breathing even when ChatGPT is back!
